Journeyman Pit-Spitter Cherry Rye Whiskey (75cl, 35%)

Pit-Spitter is a cherry-infused rye whiskey from Journeyman Distillery in Three Oaks, Michigan, bottled at 35% in a 75cl bottle. The base is the distillery's Last Feather Rye, made from an organic mashbill of 60% rye and 40% wheat and single-distilled. About half a pound of Michigan Montmorency cherries is macerated in cask-strength rye for 14 days for each bottle, with no concentrates, syrups or artificial flavouring. Expect toasted oak and dried cherry on the nose, turning juicier with a tart cranberry edge. The palate is honey-sweet cherry with tart apple and a bready wheat backbone. The finish is syrupy, with cherry sweetness, a little rye spice and a touch of oak tannin.
