Kaiyo The Peated is a Japanese blended malt made from 100% malted barley peated to 35 PPM. It is bottled at 46% ABV in a 75cl bottle, without chill-filtering.
The whisky matures first in ex-Madeira wine casks and then in Japanese mizunara oak, before a three-month sea voyage from Osaka. It is the first Kaiyo expression to combine peated malt with mizunara oak.
The nose is smoky, with nuts, sweet fruit, honey and cherry blossom. On the palate, gentle smoke sits alongside vanilla, dried fruit, dark chocolate, sandalwood and spice. The finish is sweet, long and drying.
