Kanosuke – Single Malt Japanese Whisky (70cl, 48%)

Kanosuke Single Malt is a lightly peated Japanese single malt from the Kanosuke Distillery on Fukiagehama Beach in Kagoshima, bottled at 48% in a 70cl bottle. It is made from malted barley and double-distilled in three differently shaped Miyake copper pot stills. It is non-chill-filtered, with no added colouring. The whisky matures in re-charred American oak casks that once held the family's Mellowed Kozuru rice shochu, alongside ex-bourbon and sherry casks. The nose is described as banana, lemon cake and Japanese confectionery. The palate brings ginger, candied quince and a wisp of camp smoke, and the finish recalls salty sea air.
