A single malt from Kanosuke, a Japanese distillery in Kagoshima Prefecture, beside Fukiagehama Beach and the East China Sea. Its founder, Yoshitsugu Komasa, aims to make whisky as relaxing as the setting, hence the motto "Mellow Land, Mellow Whisky". Kanosuke was founded in 2017 by the Shochu distillery Komasa Jyozo and named after second-generation distiller Kanosuke Kosama. Production began in 2018 on three Miyake copper pot stills. Fierce winter winds and a wide seasonal temperature range help maturation, and the sea air brings minerality and salinity to the ageing casks.
