This Kavalan is a Taiwanese single malt, distilled in 2009 and aged for 15 years in an ex-bourbon cask. It is bottled at cask strength, 50% ABV, and released as a limited edition.
It forms part of the 15th Anniversary of Kavalan's Solist Series of single cask expressions. The distillery opened in Yilan County in 2005.
The nose has vanilla bean, honey-drizzled pineapple and toasted coconut, with citrus zest and soft oak spice. The palate shows caramelised banana, creme brulee and buttery toffee, with white pepper and charred oak. The finish is lingering, with sweet spice and tropical fruit.
