Kavalan Distiller's Select #1 is a single malt from the Yilan region of Taiwan, in a 70cl bottle. The humid climate there is said to shape every stage of maturation.
It is matured in American and Caribbean oak casks.
The nose is intense, with vanilla, honey and tropical fruit. The palate is soft and velvety, with sweet caramel, a little spice and a mineral freshness against the wood, and the finish is long and slightly smoky.
