Kavalan Distillery Select is a Taiwanese single malt bottled at 43% ABV in a 750ml bottle. It carries no age statement and was matured in hand-selected refill casks at Kavalan Distillery in Yilan County.
The series is built around cask selection rather than age, with the aim of letting the distillery's tropical fruit character lead in a soft, multi-layered palate. Kavalan was founded in 2005 by the King Car Group as Taiwan's first whisky distillery, and the warm, humid climate of Yilan shapes how the whisky matures.
The nose is mango and banana with buttery caramel and a floral note. The palate offers rich oak, vanilla, honeyed orchard fruit and toffee apple, and the finish is smooth and fruity with pineapple, mango, tropical spice and butterscotch.
