Kavalan LÁN is a Taiwanese single malt from Kavalan Distillery in Yilan County, founded in 2005 by the King Car Group. The name means orchid in Chinese, a nod to Taiwan's reputation as the Kingdom of Orchids.
It is matured in a blend of ex-bourbon barrels, Port wine casks and STR Vinho wine casks, and bottled at 43% ABV.
The nose offers vanilla custard, white tea, caramelised fig and floral orchard fruit. The palate is rounded and silky, with salted caramel, roasted apple, peach, cocoa and gentle baking spice. The finish is warm and medium-long, with vanilla, dried fruit and soft oak spice.
