Kavalan – Solist Madeira Cask (70cl, 57.8%)

This is a single cask bottling from the Kavalan distillery in Taiwan, matured in a Madeira cask. It is bottled at a cask strength of 57.8% in a 70cl bottle, and only 219 bottles were filled. Taiwan's warm climate means whisky matures there noticeably faster and more intensely than, for example, in Scotland. The nose offers ripe cherries, grapes and apples, with figs, sweet honey, jam and a little cinnamon. The palate is creamy and soft, with vanilla, caramel, honey and fine spices such as cinnamon. The finish is long, with sweet fruit, caramel and fine oak.
