Kavalan – Solist Peaty Cask 2016 Single Cask (70cl, 51.6%)

A single cask Taiwanese whisky from Kavalan, bottled at 51.6% ABV in a 70cl bottle. The outturn is 140 bottles. The whisky matured in selected former Islay casks, which give it a gentle peaty note alongside the tropical fruit aromas that are typical of Kavalan. The colour is a honeyed gold. The nose is rich in honey, toffee, beeswax and coconut, and with a little water tropical fruit, kiwi and citrus come forward. The palate offers toffee and butterscotch with a hint of peat. The finish brings pepper and red chilli, and is complex, oily and balanced.
