Kavalan – Solist Vinho Barrique 2017 Single Cask (70cl, 58.6%)

Kavalan Solist Vinho Barrique 2017 is a single cask whisky from Taiwan, bottled at a cask strength of 58.6% in a 70cl bottle. The cask gave 158 bottles. It matures in wine casks, red and white wine barriques both being used. The casks are scraped after their use for wine and toasted in a controlled way to open up the fruit, then filled with Kavalan spirit. The colour is deep autumn gold. The nose is rich in vanilla and caramelised sugar with dark chocolate, followed by ripe melon, mango and kiwi, with delicate citrus and a hint of pepper behind. The palate is rounded, clear and complex.
