Kavalan Triple Sherry Cask is a Taiwanese single malt from the Kavalan distillery in Yilan, bottled at 40% ABV. It is a blend of malts matured in three kinds of sherry cask: Oloroso, Pedro Ximénez and Moscatel.
Kavalan's humid, subtropical climate speeds up maturation, which gives the whisky its depth of flavour without a long wait in the cask.
The nose brings raisins, figs and stewed berries with caramel, toffee and dark chocolate, lifted by orange peel and rose petal. On the palate come dark fruit compote, plum and blackberry alongside milk chocolate, honey and brown sugar. The finish is long, smooth and sweetly spiced.
