Kavalan Vinho Barrique Cask Strength is a single malt from Yilan County, Taiwan, bottled at 56.3% in a 750ml bottle.
The whisky is matured entirely in recharred American oak wine barrels that previously held both red and white wines. The distillery's tropical character sits alongside fruit from the wine casks.
The nose brings vanilla, caramelised sugar and dark chocolate, then ripe mango, melon, kiwi and citrus. On the palate come pepper, warm spice, dates and orchard fruit, and the finish is long and clean.
