Kavalan – Vinho Barrique Single Cask Strength Single Malt Whisky (59.4%)

Kavalan Vinho Barrique is a single malt from the Kavalan distillery in Yilan County, Taiwan, bottled at cask strength of 59.4% ABV (118.8 proof). It is sold in Taiwan as The Soloists. The spirit is first matured in American oak barrels, then finished in ex-red wine casks. It then moves to small European and American oak barriques that previously held fortified wines, often port, madeira or sherry. The warm, humid climate of Yilan County speeds maturation and draws more from the oak.
