Kempisch Vuur – 6-year-old Calvados Cask (2023) (50cl, 46%)

This is a six-year-old Belgian single cask whisky from the Kempisch Vuur distillery, in a 50cl bottle at 46%. Only 500 bottles were filled, and each comes in a wooden box. The whisky matured for six years and was then finished in a Calvados cask, which adds a fruity, spicy character. The nose is softly smoky, with green apple, pear compote, herbs and subtle wood. The palate is full and round, with stewed fruit, honey, light vanilla and a layer of smoke. The finish is long and warm, with the smoke fading into sweet spice.
