Kilchoman – 100% Islay 12th Edition (70cl, 50%)

Kilchoman 100% Islay 12th Edition is a single malt in a 70cl bottle at 50% ABV, and the twelfth release in the 100% Islay series. It is a limited edition of 12,500 bottles, non-chill-filtered and of natural colour. The barley was harvested in 2011, 2012 and 2013 and the whisky was distilled at Kilchoman's farm distillery. It then matured for at least 8 years in a combination of 29 bourbon casks and 6 oloroso sherry casks. The nose offers elegant sweet peat smoke, waves of citrus and honey, and vanilla and salted caramel. The palate begins malty, then moves to apple and pear, with light spice, raisin and toffee. The finish brings the peat smoke back, with an oily, creamy texture and toffee and caramelised sugar.
