Kilchoman – 100% Islay Release 2023 13th Edition (70cl, 50%)

This is the 13th edition of Kilchoman's 100% Islay series, in which the main production steps, from barley and malting to distillation and maturation, all take place on Islay. It is a peated single malt bottled at 50% in a 70cl bottle, from around 13,000 bottles. The 2023 release matured entirely in ex-bourbon barrels, which leaves fruit, malt, vanilla and peat smoke to the fore. The nose is citrus, apple, banana, peat smoke, vanilla and fresh malt. The palate is sweet fruit, honey, cereal and gentle smoke. The finish is medium to long, lightly salty, smoky and dry.
