Kilchoman – 16 Year Old Islay Single Malt Scotch Whisky

This is a 16 year old Islay single malt from Kilchoman, and the distillery's oldest global bottling to date. It is a vatting of 21 casks, mostly ex-bourbon barrels with a hint of ex-oloroso sherry. The casks were watched over for several years before being married together, and the release shows how the Kilchoman character has developed over 16 years of maturation. The nose is rich, with creamy citrus sweetness, cooked apples, pear, plums and nutmeg. The palate has festive spices, fresh vanilla, tropical fruit and smouldering peat smoke. The finish brings dried mango and apricots, barbecue smoke and lasting honey sweetness.
