Kilchoman 2009 Vintage is an 8 year old single malt from the Kilchoman distillery on Islay, bottled in 2017 at 46% ABV in a 70cl bottle. It is made using farm distilling practices.
The whisky was matured in a combination of Oloroso sherry butts and bourbon barrels, and has a smoky character with subtle chocolate undertones.
Tasting notes describe a nose of sweet smoke, candy, earth and spice. The palate brings Black Forest ham, lemon, ashy smoke, seaweed, salt and bitter chocolate, and the finish is medium-long with smoke and lemon.
