Kilchoman – Batch Strength (70cl, 57%)

Kilchoman Batch Strength is a heavily peated Islay single malt from the island's farm distillery, bottled at 57% ABV in a 70cl bottle. It was the first addition to the distillery's core range. The spirit is a vatting of re-charred red wine casks, Oloroso sherry butts and ex-bourbon barrels, with only a few drops of water added after maturation. It is non-chill filtered and at natural colour. The distillery describes red fruits, fresh cherries and heather blossom against strong peat smoke on the nose. On the palate come toffee, baking spices and vanilla over lasting smoke, and the finish is silky, with crumpets, butter and honey.
