Kilchoman Casado is a limited edition Islay single malt. Casado is Portuguese for marriage, and the name refers to how it was made: six years in fresh bourbon barrels, then two years with 38 casks married together in two 6,000 litre Portuguese red wine vats.
The nose opens with intense campfire smoke and ripe stone fruits, peach, plum and cherry, then deep marzipan and maritime notes. The palate brings pepper and spice, dry salty peat smoke, and apricot and lemon. The finish is long, hot and spicy, with stewed fruit and a jammy sweetness balanced by Kilchoman smoke.
