Kilchoman ImpEx Cask Evolution 03/2024 is a nine-year-old single cask Islay single malt, bottled at a natural cask strength of 55.9% ABV. It was drawn as 229 bottles for the U.S. market.
The spirit is heavily peated, at 50 ppm. It spent seven years in ex-bourbon barrels, then two years finishing in an ex-Sauternes wine cask. It is non-chill-filtered and has no added colour.
The nose has orange zest, ashy peat and dried kelp, with tropical fruit and a white-grape, vanilla sweetness. The palate is buttery, with vanilla, lemon peel, stewed nectarine and honey around earthy peat smoke. The finish is long, with peat smoke, mixed fruit and an oaky dryness.
