Kilchoman – Sanaig Single Malt (75cl)

Sanaig is a single malt from Kilchoman, the Islay farm distillery founded in 2005 by Anthony Willis, in a 75cl bottle. It is one of only two independently owned distilleries on the island. The whisky is a marriage of Sherry and Bourbon casks, with a much higher share of Sherry casks than in Kilchoman's Machir Bay. Smaller heart cuts at the still mean only a concentrated part of the spirit is matured and bottled. Kilchoman grows, malts and mills some of its own barley. It is described as chewy and mouth-coating, with toffee and caramel set against salt, peat and smoke.
