Kilkerran 12 Years is a single malt from the Glengyle Distillery in Campbeltown, a sister to the better-known Springbank. The name comes from the Gaelic name of the monastic settlement that stood there before the town was founded.
The whisky is matured for 12 years in a combination of 70% ex-bourbon and 30% ex-sherry casks, and comes in a 70cl bottle.
The nose is woody, with caramel, dried fruit, red fruit such as cherry and a touch of peat. The palate is fruity and lightly peated, with citrus, toffee and vanilla, leading to a soft finish with a salty note.
