This is an 8 year old Kilkerran single malt from Campbeltown, bottled at cask strength, 55.8% ABV.
It matured entirely in bourbon casks, so the character comes from that wood alone.
The nose is floral, with elderflower and heather, bourbon vanilla and a gentle sweetness like chocolate banana filling, plus a faint thread of smoke. On the palate come tropical pineapple and coconut, bitter cocoa flakes, earthy peat smoke, oak, vanilla and a note of barbecue. The finish is long, with elegant smoke and shortbread.
