Kilkerran Heavily Peated 2024 Batch 10 (70cl, 57.8%)

Kilkerran Heavily Peated Batch 10 is a limited edition from the Campbeltown distillery Glengyle, released in 2024 at 57.8% in a 70cl bottle. The whisky was matured in 90% bourbon casks and 10% sherry casks, and is bottled without chill filtering or added colouring. Glengyle was founded in 1873 by William Mitchell and closed in 1925. It reopened in 2004, again run by descendants of the Mitchells, and its malt comes from sister distillery Springbank. The nose is sweet, with icing sugar, crème brûlée and custard. On the palate the peat smoke is soft and sweet, with toasted marshmallow, then gooseberries and parma violets. The finish carries orange pulp.
