This is the fourteenth batch of Kilkerran Heavily Peated, a Campbeltown single malt bottled at cask strength, 58.3% ABV. The malt has a phenol level of 45 ppm. It is non-chill-filtered and of natural colour.
The whisky matured 90% in ex-bourbon barrels and 10% in ex-sherry casks.
The nose is maritime, with honey, wholegrain toast, grilled seafood and smoked bacon, plus a light woody, leathery, herbal note. The palate opens with intense peat smoke, then lemon shortbread, honeydew melon, ham and sweet tropical fruit. The finish is long, dry and smouldering, with lemon zest and creamy sweetness.
