Kilkerran Heavily Peated Scotch Whisky (60.9%)

Kilkerran Heavily Peated is a Campbeltown single malt from Glengyle Distillery, bottled at its natural cask strength of 60.9% ABV. It is peated to around 45 PPM, non-chill-filtered and of natural colour, and released in small batches twice a year. Glengyle was founded in 1872 and returned to production in 2004. Its barley is floor-malted at Springbank, the sister distillery. Since Batch 7 the recipe has been roughly 90% ex-bourbon and 10% ex-sherry casks, with no age statement. Distillery notes mention honeycomb, wholemeal toast, chargrilled seafood and smoky bacon on the nose, then smoke, lemon shortbread, ham and melon on the palate. The finish brings peat smoke, lemon zest, icing sugar and sweet butter.
