Knob Creek 9 Year Old is a Kentucky straight small batch bourbon, bottled at 50% ABV in a 750ml bottle. It is aged for a minimum of nine years in white oak barrels with a level 4 char, the deepest, at the James B. Beam Distilling Co. in Clermont.
Booker Noe, sixth-generation Beam master distiller and grandson of Jim Beam, created Knob Creek in 1992 to revive the fuller-flavoured, pre-Prohibition style of bourbon: distilled at a lower proof, aged nine years and bottled at 100 proof. The age statement was dropped during a barrel shortage and restored in 2020.
The nose is sweet vanilla, brown sugar and charred oak. The palate brings caramel, vanilla, charred oak and subtle fruit, and the finish lingers on charred oak and brown sugar.
