La Villette GSM 2017 Magnum (1.5L)

A red wine from La Villette, made in the Languedoc style. It blends 50% Grenache, 35% Syrah and 15% Mourvèdre, with the Grenache and Syrah from slopes between the Pyrenees and the Cévennes and the Mourvèdre from the southern Mediterranean coast. The three varieties are vinified separately, with whole-cluster fermentation for the Mourvèdre, then aged on French and American oak before blending and further oak ageing. It has an intense, dark ruby colour. The nose shows concentrated, spicy, complex aromas of blackcurrant, ripe cherry, plum and black pepper. The palate continues with ripe red and dark berries, English liquorice, pepper and a little tobacco, finishing dry and crisp with rounded tannins. It suits grilled dishes, red-meat stews and game.
