This is a 40 year old Ladyburn from the Private Cask Collection, a Lowland single malt bottled by William Grant & Sons. The cask was filled on 21 November 1974 and the whisky was bottled on 25 November 2014, at a cask strength of 46.8%.
It comes from a single first-fill bourbon cask and was filled into 157 bottles. The nose offers marzipan, bitter liquorice, linseed oil and citrus zest, with Madeira cake and candyfloss emerging after a little water. On the palate marzipan carries through alongside vanilla, aniseed, pepper, sage and tamarind. The finish is long, peppery and herbal, with oak and soft spice.
