Lagavulin 12 Year Old 2017 Release is an Islay single malt, matured for twelve years and sold in a 70cl bottle.
The nose opens with sweet sponge or liquorice, old-fashioned soap and wet wool, alongside rock pools, sandy beaches and burning pine needles and ferns. As the smoke builds, smoked bacon and mineral notes appear, and in time apple, pear and banana.
The palate starts with greener notes, then moves to golden syrup, smoked meat, black pepper, cinnamon, nutmeg and drying grass.
