Lagavulin – 12 Year Old - Diageo Special Release 2023 is a single malt whisky from Lagavulin (Islay). Aged 12 years, bottled at 56.4% ABV, 70cl. Lagavulin is said to be one of the oldest distilleries on Islay and is world-renowned for its smoky, peaty whiskies. It is situated on Islay's south coast where legal distilling started in 1816 by John Johnson. The distillery was then moved into the hands of the Mackie who launched White Horse into export markets. White Horse Distillers became part of DCL in 1927 just shortly before the Distillery was closed in 1942 for the remainder of WWII. Later, Lagavulin 16 joined the Classic Malts portfolio in 1989 and has been a great success ever since. 'The King of Islay' - The Diageo Special Release 2023 from Lagavulin was finished in Don Julio Anejo Tequila Casks. Bottled at 56.4% this cask strength expression has thick whispers of smoke, etched with bright hers and juicy plums, for an indelible finish.
