Lagavulin Grain & Embers is the 12 year old in the 2025 Diageo Special Releases. This single malt comes from the Lagavulin distillery on Islay's south coast, near Port Ellen, and is bottled at 56.5% in a 20cl bottle. It is non-chill-filtered and of natural colour. It matured in refill casks combined with European oak butts that previously held Pedro Ximénez and Oloroso sherry. The edition draws on toasted grain, baked bread, raisins, figs and dates alongside smouldering smoke. The nose is robust and phenolic, with peat embers, wood ash, soap and gypsum, plus rock pools, lobster boats, fresh scallops and oyster shells. The palate is smooth and slightly oily, with strong sweetness, dried fruit, savoury spice, salt and peat smoke. The finish is long and dry.

About Glenbotal

The idea of Glenbotal came to us naturally: as whisky lovers, we were always on the lookout for new experiences in the whisky world. That’s why we created Glenbotal and became our very own first customers. We buy unique and hard to find spirits from ballots and private collections. Then, we share them with a small circle of friends and people who can appreciate a good dram.
