Lagavulin 12 Year Old is a single malt from Islay, here in its 2018 cask strength edition at 57.8%. It was matured in refill American oak and has a pale straw colour.
Peat leads on the nose, earthy and dry, with bonfire ash, seaweed, lemon juice, hazelnut and a faint medicinal note. The palate is oily, with hot peat smoke, smoked chillies, citrus, brine and white pepper. The finish is medium to long and dry, with ash, citrus peel, salt and lingering peat smoke.
