This is the 2019 Special Release from Lagavulin, an Islay single malt aged for 12 years and bottled at 56.5% ABV in a 70cl bottle.
The whisky matured in second-fill American casks, so the wood has left little mark on it and the colour is pale. That leaves the peaty, maritime character of the spirit to come through clearly.
It is described as traditional peated whisky, with ashy, medicinal and iodine notes and a soft citrus finish.
