Lagavulin – 12 Year Old Special Release (2019) (70cl, 56.5%)

This is the 2019 Special Release of Lagavulin 12 Year Old, an Islay single malt bottled at natural cask strength, 56.5% ABV, in a 70cl bottle. It is a peated, smoky whisky with salt, minerality and spicy depth, and the cask strength makes it sharper, drier and more intense. The nose has salty sea air, smoke, medicinal notes and light citrus. The palate is oily, intensely smoky and peppery, with peat and hints of vanilla and young oak. The finish is long and warm, smoky, with a dry minerality.
