Lagavulin 12 Year Old is a 2020 Special Release single malt from Islay, bottled at natural cask strength in a 70cl bottle. It is a single vintage, matured in traditional refill American oak casks.
The flavour is powerful and assertive yet subtly sweet. The aromas are elusive at first, until hints of ash and linseed oil emerge, followed by a light fruity note and a clean, fresh whiff of the sea.
The texture is smooth and the taste sweeter than expected, intense and deeply smoky, ending in a long, commanding finish.
