Lagavulin – 12 Year Old Special Release 2021 The Lion's Fire (6cl, 56.5%)

This is the 2021 Special Release of Lagavulin 12 Year Old, called The Lion's Fire and part of the Untold Legends series. It is bottled at a natural cask strength of 56.5% ABV, and the whisky was matured exclusively in refill casks. The nose opens with mineral, tarry and slightly terpene notes, then flint, peat, smoked turnip and smoky grist. On the palate there is smoked lemon, fresh almond paste and sea water, and with water it turns salty, with oysters, flint smoke and a few drops of lime juice. The finish is long, tight and lemony, with a fresh, green edge and a hint of pickled samphire.
