Lagavulin 12 Year Old Special Release 2025 is an Islay single malt from the Diageo Special Releases collection, bottled at 56.5% ABV in a 70cl bottle. It was aged for 12 years and finished in European oak casks that previously held Pedro Ximénez and Oloroso sherry, adding a fruity, woody side to the usual Lagavulin profile.
The nose is firmly peaty, with wood ash, sea spray, shellfish, toasted grain and bread, and dried figs, dates and raisins. The palate is smooth and slightly oily, moving from dried fruit and salt to intense peat smoke and spiced oak. The finish is long, dry and persistent, with lasting smoke and a return of sea salt.
