Lagavulin Grain & Embers is a 12-year-old peated Islay single malt, part of the 2025 Special Release, in a 750ml bottle.
It was matured in refill casks and in European oak butts seasoned with Pedro Ximénez and Oloroso sherry. The character is fire-baked embers, toasted cereal and artisan bread, with raisins, figs and dates rising through the smoke.
The nose is phenolic, with smouldering peat, wood ash, a hint of soap and plaster, and maritime notes of rock pools, lobster pots, scallops and oyster shells. The palate is smooth and lightly oily, sweet with dried fruit, salty and smoky. The finish is long, drying and lightly smoky, with salt and peat.
