Lagavulin – 12 Year Old - Virgin Oak Finish - Feis Ile 2022 is a single malt whisky from Lagavulin (Islay). Aged 12 years, bottled at 57.7% ABV, 70cl. Finished in virgin Oak. Lagavulin is said to be one of the oldest distilleries on Islay and is world-renowned for its smoky, peaty whiskies. It is situated on Islay's south coast where legal distilling started in 1816 by John Johnson. The distillery was then moved into the hands of the Mackie's who launched White Horse into export markets. White Horse Distillers became part of DCL in 1927 just shortly before the Distillery was closed in 1942 for the remainder of WWII. Later, Lagavulin 16 joined the Classic Malts portfolio in 1989 and ever since has been a great success. This Lagavulin 2022 Feis Ile bottling was selected by the new Distillery Manager, Jordan Paisley. Matured for 12 years in refill American oak hogsheads and was finished in virgin American oak casks. Bottled at 57.7%.
