This is a cask strength Lagavulin 12 Year Old, an Islay single malt released in 2017 as part of the Diageo Special Releases. It matured in refill casks of American oak and is bottled at 56.5% ABV.
The nose is soft and full-flavoured, with a delicately smoky sweetness. With a little water the smoke eases and sweet raisins and dried fruit appear. The palate balances sweetness with charred smoke, crisp and peppery, with salty sea air. The finish is long and sweet, with slightly sharp, smoky notes and a mildly drying intensity.
