Lagavulin 12 Years is an Islay single malt from the 2019 Diageo Special Releases, bottled at a cask strength of 56.5% in a 70cl bottle. It was matured in refill casks of American oak.
On the nose, delicate smoky sweetness comes first. A little water softens the smoke and brings out sweet raisins and dried fruit. The palate balances sweetness with charred smoke, crisp and peppery, with a note of salty sea air. The finish is long and sweet, with slightly sharp, smoky notes and a drying edge.
