Lagavulin 12 Years Old Special Release 2022 is an Islay single malt bottled at a natural cask strength of 57.3% in a 70cl bottle. It was matured in a combination of virgin oak casks and the distillery's smokiest reserves.
The nose is dry and immediately smoky, with charcoal and fragrant peat over a clean, fresh note of sea air and minerals. The texture is smooth and slightly oily, starting sweet before lemony acidity and a touch of sea salt arrive. A little water rounds and sweetens it, though smoke still leads. The finish is long, with waves of peat smoke and freshly baked, smoky spice.
