This is a Lagavulin 16 Year Old bottled in 2017 for Feis Ile, in a 70cl bottle at 56.1% ABV. It was double matured, with Moscatel cask wood as the second maturation.
The nose combines ripe orchard fruits, soot, white pepper and mossy peat with sultana, rock pool and charred seaweed. On the palate, peppery lime pickle sits alongside orchard fruit, waxy citrus, chilli and ginger in runny honey, with a sweeter peat smoke.
The finish is long, with black and white pepper, ripe apricot, sweet grapes and tarry smoke.
