This is Lagavulin 16 Year Old, an Islay single malt bottled for the 2017 Feis Ile at natural cask strength, 56.1% in a 70cl bottle. It is double matured in Moscatel cask wood, and 6,000 bottles were released.
The nose offers lemon vanilla cake, dry smoked wood, grilled pineapple, mint and smoked meat. On the palate come custard, grilled pineapple and heather honey, with salt water brine, caramel, saffron, lemon cake and white pepper. The finish is medium in length, with caramel, brine, light smoke, pineapple, vanilla and a pinch of ash.
