Lagavulin 8 Year Old is an Islay single malt at 48%, in a 70cl bottle. It is now part of the distillery's core range and shows some of the rawer characteristics of the Islay malt.
The nose is fresh and clean, with citrus and forest fruits, developing into fragrant peat smoke and coastal notes. On the palate, seaweed and charred oak come with a sweet, nutty, ashy character. The finish is long and smoky, with peat smoke and oily tannins, leaving the palate dry as the sweet smoke lingers.
