Lagavulin 8 Year Old is an Islay single malt, matured in refill American oak casks and bottled at 48% ABV.
It was first released to mark the distillery's 200th anniversary and has since become a permanent part of the range.
The nose is of bright, briny smoke with lemon zest, fresh oak, sea spray and a hint of vanilla, over a malty sweetness and earthy peat. On the palate, peat smoke, charred oak and black pepper give way to citrus, barley malt and light cocoa. The finish is long, warming and dry, with peat smoke, salt, oak spice and a touch of dark chocolate.
