Lagavulin Distillers Edition is an Islay single malt, first launched in 1997. It is finished in Pedro Ximenez sherry casks that previously held a wine made from sun-dried grapes. The sherry adds a raisined sweetness that deepens the rich, intense character of Lagavulin. Peat and sherry together give a whisky that is both unctuous and spicy, with a softer, smoky character.
